I am a counsellor and work in Portishead and Bristol. I work with
individuals, couples or groups and work with a variety of issues. I also provide anti-racist training and training in working trans-culturally. I am an occasional lecturer at the University of the West of England.
I work integratively. This means I draw from a variety of approaches (e.g. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, relational,
person-centred, transactional analysis, gestalt and psychodynamic) depending on your needs. The
basis of my therapeutic work is a relational approach and my
focus is the therapeutic relationship. This means that I will offer you a
compassionate therapeutic space to explore the issues you want to work
on. I work openly with you through your process of becoming and accepting
the person you are and want to be.
I have various experiences of working as a
counsellor, group facilitator and advocate. I have worked as a student counsellor, as a counsellor for people who have
experienced hate crime, as an addiction counsellor, as an NHS therapist and group facilitator and as a private
counsellor. I have specialist experience of working trans-culturally and I
provide culturally appropriate counselling.
I have an MSc in Counselling Psychology and a
BSc Honours in Psychology. I am also a final year student on a Professional
Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. I belong to the British
Psychological Society (BPS) and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy
(MBACP) and adhere to their code of ethics.
